  1. Robocall, robocall, robocall... it's the new 8-letter word, which makes it twice as bad as a 4-letter word! In this episode of Bekah Speaks, Numeracle's Rebekah Johnson reviews the many statistics and projections published on the subject of the ever-increasing volume of "unwanted" robocalls.

Yet, as the term "unwanted" continues to be prefixed to the word "robocall" the question must be asked: who has the authority to determine what consumers "do" or "do not" want? America, do you really want the carriers and call labeling companies determining which robocalls you want or don't want?

  2. In this episode of Bekah Speaks, Numeracle's Rebekah Johnson talks 'trust across communications lines,' namely, those handy voice assistant bots popping up in all of our homes, connected to our devices, helping us ask questions, play music, set reminders... all while listening to us all day long.

But do these devices open us up to fraud? You trust the voices of these virtual assistants, but should identity and trust be considered on a deeper level when it comes to increasing communications via these new channels.

  3. On February 4th, Rep. Frank Pallone reintroduced the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act in another attempt to strengthen the TCPA and the FCC’s fight against robocalls. This bill would equip consumer protection agencies with innovative new tools designed to stop the abusive practices by robocalls and better restrict unauthorized robocalls.

In this episode of Bekah Speaks, we ask: "why does this bill seem to focus on making things more difficult for good actors who communicate with patients, members, subscribers, customers and those in need of emergency services?!"

Join Numeracle's Rebekah Johnson as she deconstructs this bill to explore topics including:
    - Substantial Human Intervention
    - Revoking Consent
    - The Reassigned Numbers Database
    - Caller Identification Information Authentication Technology

  4. In this episode of Bekah Speaks, Numeracle's Rebekah Johnson goes into detail on "device analytics:" the technologies running on our devices that help let us know if an incoming call is a fraud, scam or a wanted call from an individual or an enterprise we know and trust.

    Highlighted topics:
    - Consumer access to these analytics technologies today
    - What goes into the analytics' decisions on how an incoming call should be labeled
    - Pros and cons of relying on this technology as the way to decide which calls should or should not be answered or trusted

  5. In this episode of Bekah Speaks, Numeracle’s Rebekah Johnson takes a consumer perspective on STIR/SHAKEN to explain how this industry effort to stop illegal robocalls will affect the consumer.

Through STIR/SHAKEN, all calls will be ‘tagged,’ which enables them to be traced. When an illegal actor delivers a fraudulent call to your device post-STIR/SHAKEN, the FCC will have a lead on who to go after by tracing the call back the origin. Shining the light of accountability on the fraudulent actors should deter their continued abuse of the voice channel in the future.
