  3. In the Autumn of 2012 in Chennai, India, Vidya Sagar and Opera Circus organised a teaching residency to explore the uses of music for teachers and carers of special needs children and young people. The residency was the start of a long term programme to develop a curriculum for this specialist music teacher training. The residency was led by Nigel Osborne and the Opera Circus team, Darren Abrahams, Prakriti Dutta and Priyanka Devani. We are working on developing a year of action research to be followed by the development and implementation of a music teacher training curriculum. The Royal Society for the encouragement of the Arts, Manufacture and Commerce in India is supportive of the development of the curriculum. A conference to explore music and its effect on the brain will be held at the International Institute of Technology in Chennai on the 2nd and 3rd November 2013 led by Professor Nigel Osborne and Professor Michael Trimble with partners Vidya Sagar, Opera Circus and The Musical Brain. 4. This is the story of a group of young people in Srebrenica, 15 years after the genocide of over 8000 men and boys. It shows how they struggle to overcome the horror and the community divisions through cultural activity. In this special edit for a presentation at the World Economic Forum presented by Professor Nigel Osborne, sections of the film in which the young people speak for themselves about the meaning of culture, music and theatre are cut together so that those who might doubt the value of cultural work in stressed communities can see for themselves what it has done for these marvelous young people.
