Futuristfilm Ltd was asked by Vue Cinemas was asked to produce three short films written by some local school children to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Vue Cinema at Glasgow Fort.

Five children from Aultmore Park Primary School saw their Hollywood dreams come true as their competition-winning short films premiered on the big screen at Vue Glasgow Fort today.

In a competition to celebrate the first anniversary of Vue Glasgow Fort, pupils were asked to put their creative minds to work and design an exciting movie storyboard using “Hollywood comes to Glasgow Fort” as inspiration.

The three inspired stories that were chosen to be made into Hollywood-style blockbusters were Nicole Grant’s Ariana – a story about a young singer who shoots to fame, Kieran Graham’s hilarious screenwrite Minion vs. Minion and the magical Butterfly Princess by Sarah-Louise McKay, Kaidenn McNab and Bradley McConway.

In keeping with the Hollywood feel, the films were crafted by industry-leading professionals from Futuristfilm Ltd, a Motherwell-based production company who use the same technology as big-screen productions including The Hobbit and The Fast and The Furious. They also utilise a range of local Glasgow filmmaking talent, from actors to directors and editors.

The pupils of Aultmore Park Primary School also tried their hand at filmmaking and were involved behind-the-scenes too. Butterfly Princess was animated entirely from drawings made by the primary school pupils, while Nicole and Kieran took their acting talents to the stage, with a cameo in their own films.

Kieran Lancini, Vue PR & Publicity Manager, says, “There is clearly a vast amount of local filmmaking talent in Glasgow. It was a tough decision to pick our three winners from so many great entries.

“Since opening our doors last year, we’ve wanted to bring a little bit of Hollywood to Glasgow Fort. It’s been fantastic to be able to take this a step further and work with local children to help their aspiring Hollywood dreams come to life, while also working with passionate local filmmakers, Futuristfilm Ltd, to make it happen.”

Steve Johnson, Executive Producer of all three short films and owner of Futuristfilm Ltd says, "It's been an absolute privilege to work with these highly talented individuals and the imaginative stories they've brought to us. The school have been nothing short of amazing and finally seeing these brilliant short films on the screen at VUE Cinemas is truly awe-inspiring."

The films premiered at a special screening today exclusively for Aultmore Park Primary school where the winning children were presented with an Oscar-style accolade for their work.
