I was filming him at his house in San Diego 2006. We were preparing footage for the project with " Legends of West Africa ". I was filming this with Canon XL 2 , so it is not in HD , but it is nice peace of "African " meditation..
Petit Mamady Keita performs a djembekan in Conakry, Guinea in January 2012.
Mamady (the little kid from the "Djembefola" documentary) grew up playing djembe under the instruction of various masters including Famoudou Konate, Mansa Camio and Fadouba Oulare. He spent much of his youth drumming for traditional celebrations in the village of Baro (Gberedu). He also spent time in Faranah with Fadouba and then went to Conakry where he played with numerous groups and ballets.
Mamady is availabe for private and group classes in Conakry. He can be contacted on 00224 66 10 70 58. He speaks French and Portuguese and a little English.
