Phil's Philms

  1. Asian Heritage Night at the Air Canada Centre. Had the opportunity to film the event for the CCYAA with Karl Man Productions.

First shoot I've done that was pure run-and-gun, with no proper stabilization system like a tripod or steadicam. Just used a shoulder mount with top handle the whole day. You have to work harder to get a steady shot, but it's a very freeing way to shoot!

Second camera operated by Karl Man.

  2. A documentary about my friend Derek Achoy and his misadventures in creative writing! This was produced for a Ryerson University film class.

    Slightly colour corrected 2015 version!

  3. Some shots of Mississauga from last year that I forgot I had. Intended to film around more of the city, but got kind of lazy and only ended up with stuff around the Square One and city hall area. Everything was shot around 6-9pm, so I got that warm sun glow and a lot of hard shadows.

  4. Two brothers have a heated discussion about the life choices one has made.

This was a short film done for a Ryerson University film class, in which I worked as sound recorder and film editor. I was nominated for a 2012 Peter Gerretson award for best achievement in editing on this film.

  5. Short film project done for a Ryerson University film class. The challenge was to create a story in which the protagonist goes through three obstacles in order to reach a goal. In this film, our hero accidentally kills his best friend, and must find a way to hide the body!

Filmed on 16mm black and white film with a Bell and Howell camera.
