This is a film I have produced for the Friends of The Queens Road Allotment Society as part of their "Not Lost The Plot" heritage lottery funded project. The project has involved the production of a booklet and website as well as this film. The aim of the project has been to research and explore the history of the site as well as discovering and documenting the stories of allotment users over the years. The site is particularly unusual as the allotments are all privately owned. Allotment owners and users are not confined by regulations present on many council run sites. This film is the final edit of 4 seasonal episodes starting last winter in the thick snow. I am currently still filming an Autumn episode. The film will be screened in Leicester at the end of October 2013 at an event to celebrate the end of the project.
The final episode in our heritage lottery funded project, "Not Lost The Plot" - The Story of Queens Road Allotments.
This episode was challenging as I had hoped for a colourful autumnal end to the year and instead it stayed mild and uneventful until the leaves eventually fell from the trees from boredom without actually changing colour. Also, everyone had cleared off and only by using ninja stealth and vast amounts of patience was I able to obtain a few interviews from the people i bumped into. The project is now complete and I have really enjoyed working on it. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the film and I hope it gives a true account of our allotment site 2013.
This film is part of a lottery funded heritage project about the Queens Road Allotments, Leicester, UK.
Being city dwellers we all love our allotments and the fresh produce that they give us each year. This project will give us the opportunity to find out the history of the plots and their relevance to the local community. My role is to document this research in film as the project progresses with the aim of producing a final film for launch in October 2013. This is Chapter 1.
The first of two "episodes" telling the story of summer on the Queens Road Allotments. This is part of a project funded by a Heritage Lottery grant with the aim of giving community groups the opportunity to carry out activities that help people explore, share and celebrate their local heritage.
The film was shot on a canon 7d over the last 4 months. This was my first "big" project edited entirely in FCPX. All music compositions are my own.
