The Renaissance Society

As a complement to the exhibition Let me consider it from here, poets Geoffrey G. O'Brien, Simone White, and Lynn Xu read from new work written for the occasion. Embodying the concerns of the project in their own ways, their poems offer rich viewpoints on how a private or personal space can open on to larger social and political realities.

Lynn Xu was born in Shanghai. She is the author of Debts & Lessons, a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize, and June, a chapbook. With her family, she divides her time between Marfa, TX, and Chicago, IL, where she teaches at the University of Chicago.

This event also marked the launch of the catalogue for Let me consider it from here, featuring these new poems alongside documentation from the gallery presentation.

Co-presented with Poem Present/Program for Poetry and Poetics at the University of Chicago.
