1. Ignore gravity and you’ll fall on your face. Ignore basic rules of buoyancy and you’ll sink. Ignore the principle of reaping and sowing, and you’ll inevitably face the consequences of your decisions . . . later and greater! So take responsibility. Sow responsibly now to reap the benefits later. And if you don’t like where you are in some area of life, then own up to your irresponsibility, and start doing what you should have been doing all along. It’s not rocket science. It’s taking responsibility for your life.

  2. Although we were created for responsibility, there is something in all of us that wants to avoid it in some areas. As a result, our irresponsibility creates conflict… conflict with our family, friends, co-workers, even strangers. So this week, the challenge is to pay attention to our excuses, being sensitive to how we blame everyone else but ourselves, and asking:
    Am I taking responsibility? Really?!?!?!

  3. Prayer is an essential part of the Christian faith. There’s always time to pray. But there’s also a time to stand up and do something; to take responsibility. We don’t have to ask God whether we should be honest or not. We don’t have to ask God whether we should show compassion to our enemies. We do need to stand up and take responsibility. Don’t just kneel there . . . do something.
    Joshua 7:2-13

  4. We all love stories where the underdog comes out on top, applauding those who have gotten the short end of the stick yet are able to accomplish great things. If there’s anything that our experience has taught us, it’s that life is unfair. As Jesus’ parable illustrated, we’re all entrusted with different amounts of gold. Taking responsibility for your life means refusing to make excuses for how much you’ve been given and, instead, doing something with the opportunities that you do have some control over. So let’s take responsibility for our lives… really.
    Matthew 25:14-30

It’s time to stop the finger-pointing and excuse-making and to remove the “IR” in “irresponsible.” In this series, Andy Stanley and Ken Gilmore urge us to take responsibility. They tells us it’s time to ask, Am I taking responsibility for my life . . . REALLY?
