This channel includes video clips from Reuben Griffin's oral history interview, in which he describes his experiences serving in the Army during World War II.

Born in southwest Georgia in 1923, Reuben Griffin was deferred by his local draft board because he was considered more useful as a farmer than a soldier. By 1944 the need for soldiers was so great that Griffin had to leave his farm behind. He completed training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia, and spent a year in postwar Japan.
