A raucous yet earnest dance about audience
engagement and community building. Created by Gabrielle Revlock and Nicole Bindler, in collaboration, the dance challenges notions of competition and conventional forms of
beauty by using biting wit and playful commentary.
An excerpt from Hulachess, a video installation that explores themes of multitasking, the feminine, circular side of chess and the surprising parallels between chess and hooping.
In 2010, Hulachess was among 125 videos selected from over 23,000 for the first online gallery of the Guggenheim/Youtube Biennial. Shahade plays red while choreographer & dancer Gabrielle Revlock vimeo.com/gabriellerevlock plays White. Cinematography by Blake Eichenseer.
On Thursday, May 19th @ 7pm, Gabrielle Revlock and Nicole Bindler will premier a new creation: I made this for you. We really did make it for you and we are dying to share it with you. Also it will be a competition for $10,000. But don't come for the drama. Come for the art.
The piece will feature a number of exciting things such as:
- Twins (as you see)
- A 6 Year Old Violin Prodigy
- Circus Tricks

"Audiences new to dance often express that they lack an understanding of the art form, and that they do not have the tools to help them through this initial barrier. Often audience members leave a performance without a particular sense of connection. The A.W.A.R.D. Show! aims to overcome this reaction, or lack of reaction, to experimental dance in particular."
