A series overlapping and interlocking duets, a human obstacle course, a non-monogamous dance dating journey!
This is a rehearsal clip from the section "Bonnie"
Practicing my solo "Halo" to be performed March 15-16, 2012 at Temple University. Presented by Philadelphia Dance Projects as part of SCUBA, National Touring Network for Dance.
Back when cameras recorded video with no sound; Back when nobody was posting their silly dance videos to the internet; But now that they are, here it is.
In 2011 Gabrielle Revlock and Nicole Bindler created "I made this for you", a raucous, playful, yet earnest dance about audience engagement and community building for the A.W.A.R.D. Show!, a $10,000 choreography competition. The A.W.A.R.D. Show! was a divisive force when it came to Philadelphia in 2009, creating tension and resentment among choreographers. We wanted to embrace these tensions, colliding performance and reality. Choosing to critique from within was a riskier option than boycotting or writing letters to the producers. We felt trepidation about the possibility of being disqualified but the risk proved worthwhile. In addition to being voted to the finals we created a dance that promoted harmonious community over the anxieties of competition.
Heads up: the shoutbox will be retiring soon. It’s tired of working, and can’t wait to relax. You can still send a message to the channel owner, though!
