Study 1 of 13 on 1 and 2 Thessalonians

Scriptural Basis: Acts 16:9–40; 17:1–4, 12; Jer. 23:1–6; Isa. 9:1–7; Isaiah 53; Rom. 1:16.

Key Text: “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe” (1 Thess. 2:13, NKJV).

1. Can you share an experience in your life when someone came to your assistance? How did you respond?

2. In sharing the Gospel, why is approaching people where they are so important?

3. Why was it necessary for Christ to die for the world to be restored? Why could God not simply have overlooked Adam and Eve’s sin?

4. What does Isaiah 53 tell us about the character of God?

5. How does knowledge of Scripture relate to readiness for Jesus’ second coming? How does it not?

6. This week’s study suggests that idols don’t always have to be material objects. They can be ideas too. How do you understand this?
