    Brooklyn artist Ted Lawson hooked himself up to a robotic painting machine that used his blood as ink to draw a nude portrait of himsel.

    As part of a series of artworks made using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines – originally programmed to paint with a self-filling brush and ink device – Ted Lawson decided to hack the device to use his own blood, which led to the notion of a self-portrait.

    "I don't really like being the physical subject of my own work and was not particularly thrilled to pose nude, but the purest execution of the concept demanded it," he told Dezeen. "The idea of connecting the self directly to the machine and then making that connection to the other works in the show was important to me."

    To make the Drawing Blood project as relevant as possible to a wide audience, the artist played on the popular craze for taking photos of oneself with a mobile phone camera and used technology to recreate his likeness.

  3. Scopitone est un festival dédié aux cultures électroniques et aux arts numériques à Nantes.

    Le festival offre pendant 1 semaine au mois de septembre un concentré des nouvelles formes de création mélangeant musique, vidéo, design, interactivité, robotique, architecture...
    Une dizaine de lieux emblématiques et atypiques accueillent chaque année la cinquantaine d'artistes programmés, marquant ainsi le territoire nantais de son empreinte numérique. Soirées concerts, expositions, installations, ateliers, conférences, visites et projections, pour la plupart gratuits, s'y déroulent faisant de Scopitone un événement populaire attendu par près de 40 000 festivaliers, petits et grands (fréquentation de l'édition 2013).

    A destination des professionnels, chercheurs, entreprises et artistes, le festival programme des débats, des conférences ou des ateliers croisant les thèmes de l'innovation, de la création numérique et de la recherche scientifique. Les publics scolaires sont également sensibilisés aux pratiques numériques et à l’éducation artistique (visites, ateliers...).

    Scopitone est organisé depuis 2002 par l'association Songo qui pilote le projet culturel et artistique Stereolux orienté autour des musiques actuelles et des arts et pratiques numériques. Situé à La Fabrique île de Nantes au cœur du Quartier de la Création, Stereolux fait partie des lieux incontournables du festival.

    Stereolux est conventionnée avec la Ville de Nantes, la DRAC des Pays de la Loire / Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication (label SMAC), le Département de Loire-Atlantique, la Région des Pays de la Loire et la Métropole de Nantes.

  4. Alan Maskin of Olson Kundig Architects led the design of the Bezos Center for Innovation at the Museum of History & Industry which opened late in 2013. In this short presentation Maskin discusses the principle design concepts for the project.

    The Bezos Center for Innovation is a groundbreaking exhibition dedicated to the theme of innovation, featuring multimedia, interactive and hands-on experiences as well as artifacts, images and oral histories that explore Seattle’s culture of innovation. Located within The Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI), the mission behind the Bezos Center is to educate visitors about Seattle’s creative history and ignite the innovator within. The 5,000 square foot exhibit is layered with rich narratives whose interactive nature facilitates discovery and enables visitors to become fully immersed in the creative process. The exhibition begins with the question, “What is innovation?”

  5. Backstage of "Analog mapping" - Radugadesign work for the Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light" in 2013.
    The uniqueness of the project consists in creation of video mapping content without any computer graphics used.
    We printed scores of forms of Manege building and then we exploded them, burnt them, drowned them in liquid nitrogen etc. and filmed everything in 300 fps and classic cut video editing.

    The final result analog video mapping was shown on real Manege building on 5th of October 2013:
