1. Gesture-Gesture explores the visual language created with our hands and the idea that we are communicating less with our first tool for language and more than ever with new tools like texting, email, photos, video, self destructing video, gifs. This project allows for anyone to save their gestures and archive their message on the internet forever!

Every person that wants to participate in the gesture archiving process must wear the sleeves to create a visual equilibrium. Insert their hands into the box and leave a gesture. After one second of presence the custom software will capture three seconds and create a .gif. When a new gesture is added the oldest is removed from display but archived in a data folder. During the exhibition the gestures will also be archived on the internet.

A three frame gif was created with the installation. Each frame was printed and hung in sequence in the gallery space.

Gesture-Gesture is a new interactive project for FOREWARD, a group show in Atlanta's new municipal gallery- Gallery 72, The program was built in openFrameworks by Dan Moore, Sleeves by Emily Dawn Long, Production help from Trek Matthews and construction by Danny Davis and Protect Awesome.

"The gallery located on the first floor of the former Atlanta Journal and Constitution Building at 72 Marietta Street, is now home to the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management. Renamed 2 City Plaza, the building’s lobby incorporates a new city run art gallery designed by Stanley Beaman and Sears as the result of a re-design competition initiated by the Office of Cultural Affairs in March of 2012. The 3,400 square foot lobby renovation is broken into three zones – a south gallery, a north gallery, and entry lobby. The south gallery will feature a variety of art forms while the north gallery will focus on digital artwork. "

    Art & Arcade

If you are a gaming addict and an art freak, MU is THE place to be for you this April and May. Art & Arcade, a collection of ten gaming classics that have been given an artistic overhaul, is coming straight to Eindhoven from the Haus für Elektronische Künste in Basel where it premiered.

Arcade video machines never go out of style. In the 1970s the first entertainment arcades appeared, the so-called Penny Arcades. As their name implies, they would spring to life after insertion of a coin. For decades these arcade games flourished, and classic games were developed and marketed for them, such as Pong, Space Invaders, Mario Bros, Tron Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.

Having grown up with these games it was inevitable that these visual artists would start using the arcade games in their work. They are restructuring the video games, fitting them with new functions, creating fantasy worlds and experimenting with 8-bit aesthetics to transform the gaming culture into art.

MU | Strijp S will be transformed into a gaming arcade where you can indulge yourself with games such as Painstation, Pentapong, The Machine, Radical ATM Service, Tesla Arcade, Cage was a n00b and Racer.
