While we are no longer raising money to build new homes in Haiti, I made a promise to create an extended cut of this video when the original got above 200 views. That happened several years ago, but due to life circumstances, I never got around to making the extended cut. Until now, that is.

Over the two years that Shelter 127 was around, we managed to raise more than $15,000 to build 3 new sustainable homes in Haiti to replace the tarp shelters that were designed to only last two years. These shelters are still in use almost 5 years later. Our donations went to an organization called Mission of Hope. Many of us were able to raise our own funds (independently of Shelter 127) and see the homes in various states of construction. We were able to raise most of our funds from the small town of Hicksville, Ohio. With a population of less than 5000, we felt that we did a good job of bringing about community involvement.

If you are interested in making a donation today to continue new home construction, you can check out the websites below. Help is still needed, and greatly appreciated! You can check out some of our other Haiti related material at Shelter 127

Shelter 127 is a mission to raise money for sustainable housing in Haiti by drawing attention to current living conditions. The Shelter 127 team is living in a temporary shelter built from plans that they use in Haiti. These shelters are only designed to last 2 years, which will run out this January. As you can see from some of our videos, as these shelters age, they become more dangerous for the families living in them. The team spent 90 days in Shelter 127 this year and raised $11,000. Enough to build 2 sustainable homes in Haiti!

Stay tuned over the winter for news about our upcoming trip to Haiti, and preparations for our next campaign.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been apart so far!
