Shelter Behavior Training

Any shelter has to remove dogs from their kennels, the reasons for this are numerous. There are two ways to remove a dog from their kennel: one way is to bring the dog out of the kennel and onto the leash, the second way is to enter the kennel with the dog and leash them from there.

Most dogs can be removed from the front of the kennel using the technique shown in this video. Please watch this video and the explanation included.

For dogs that are more difficult to handle, please watch our other videos on Removing Dogs from Kennels.

Bound Angels is dedicated to helping shelters save more lives. We do this by educating shelter staff and volunteers on canine behavior. These behaviors are different than those that face the family dog in his / her home, these issues include fear, aggression, emotional shut-down and much more.

In the video instruction that follows we share the life-saving skills that are proven successful in large metropolitan shelters as well as small rescues and humane societies.

Miss Marcum, I don't believe that if a dog doesn't respond to one type of training they should be put down, just like I don't believe that if a dog doesn't like one type of food he should be starved. We need to open our minds and help the dogs that need help and put our egos aside. Thanks for reaching out.

Is there a video about the use of R+ versus other methods if a dog is aggressive to other dogs? Many feel if R+ doesn't work a dog should be put down and happens quite frequently. Should efforts not be exhaustive?

Robert, this will help people who work in these conditions. Until we can get rid of cages and today's animal prisons, your training videos will help save many lives. Great work!
