Shoeboxes and Stripes

Ian Hannah introduces Gillian Wisener's performance of 'Never Alone', as part of a night of music dedicated to Lynne McGeehan, held at The Rock in Portstewart, Northern Ireland in December 2009.

Lynne, a passionate musician and youth worker, died suddenly in December 2008. To mark the one year anniversary, former musical colleagues, friends and family came together to share favourite stories and songs.

Lynne wrote 'Never Alone' at the age of just 15, as one of the songs for The Son Fun Company. SFC consisted of a group of young people from St Patrick's Church Of Ireland, Coleraine, who took up the challenge to form a choir and perform new and classic praise songs - to much success. They would go on to tour extensively, and the song 'Never Alone' became part of their 2000 LP, 'Living in the Family of God.'
