Short of the Week

When Tanya Lim committed suicide, she left aspiring producer and younger brother Eric Lim her savings. In turn, Eric Lim joined forces with director Stephen Reedy and used those funds to create THE FORGE, a cinematic and emotional short film made in honor of and in response to Tanya’s tragedy, aiming to help others fight through the darkness. Creating a mixed martial arts metaphor for people suffering with depression, Lim portrays an individual struggling to fight a demon. He simultaneously recites a letter written to Tanya as an outlet for his own pain related to her passing. Lim has already benefited from the affects of The Forge himself, taking his own advice after watching the film following the passing of his girlfriend in the fall of last year.

The Forge’s message: Hardships shape us into something stronger.

I used citation from the novel "In Watermelon Sugar" by American writer Richard Brautigan as an epigraph (born Richard Brautigan, a symbolic figure of the counterculture of the 1960s and '70s.) This novel is similar in style surrealism and abstract art.
