Kids to Sleep

‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,’ alternatively known as the Golden Rule is the subject of this project. This video piece is a forum on this ethical issue, and is created from philosophical opinions, articles and videos sourced from the Internet. I have visualized the interactive process people go through when using the Internet to create this forum. My aim is to illustrate and debate the pros and cons of the Golden Rule.

The Golden Rule, also known as the ethics of reciprocity is the subject of my project. This video piece called ‘The Golden Rule’ is predominately narrated and composed from articles, essays and blogs sourced from the Internet. I have gathered the views of philosophers and thinkers on this idea to fuel a debate. The aim is to navigate and retrieve information from the internet’s digital memory bank, and to bring together minds that never could have physically met, to debate their interpretation and opinions on the Golden Rule. Bloggers will finally have their chance to take on some of the leading academics on ethical issues, and long forgotten articles will again find their voice.
The video explores and teases out some of the possibilities of Internet based research, and exploits its versatility by retrieving spoken word and text from community based sites such as YouTube, Facebook, blogs and online forums. However, it must also be noted that much of the forum, in my video, is also contributed to by well-respected articles and academics on this ethical issue. The forum is based inside the Internet where the host, called MPEG , conducts the forum in what would appear to be real time, guiding the debate inside the virtual space of the Internet. The forum visualizes the interaction between the people and the Internet.

  2. 2011 Sandy River Flooding on Lolo Pass Road:

We drove around to witness the Sandy River flooding in Oregon and arrived at Lolo Pass just as the road was about to wash out. It was amazing to see such natural destruction. We watched the Sandy River take down countless 50 foot tall trees, ripping them off its banks and swallowing them up. Amazing.

    Time flows, flies, burns.

    Thank you for watching,

I traveled a lot in the past year, visiting many places multiple times,
and I thought I shall share those views and put them all together
into a short film, but I also wanted to have the logic in the sequence
coming from the ice age and glaciers and finishing with the end of life
on our planet, when other civilizations send their exploring rovers
to find out if the life ever existed on this planet, which we call Earth.

Huge Thanks to Anna, who worked with me on this project.

Thanks to Dalvin, Brinda and Leon from Navajo Tours, who let me
