Slow-Mo Mondays

  1. Flour Power! At Insight Visual Media Productions we're not just video professionals. We're culinary experts, too. Only we don't use flour to bake cookies. Nope. We blow it the heck up. 'Cuz that's just how we roll.

  2. This week on Slow-Mo Mondays we have some massive destruction complimented by a heart-warming music track. We don't want to risk giving away any details so you'll just have to watch and find out what happens!

Please support the artists who created this song, The Cinematic Orchestra.

  3. Shooting things in slow motion turns the ordinary into extraordinary. There really isn't any magic to it either. I mean sure, you have to learn how to properly light the subject matter with respect to the lighting needs of the imaging sensor in the camera and of course you have to know how to operate the unit itself but the rest is all the camera's magic. As solid state drive and processor technologies advance, so will high speed camera technology and it is safe to say we will see more manufactures developing them at lower costs. Right now, though, we can thank companies like Vision Research, Weisscam and Photron for pioneering high definition, high speed cameras at a cost that at least a few of us can afford.

  4. WARNING: Stuffed animals were harmed during the filming of this production.
This was filmed under professional supervision. Please do not try any of this at home. Although we have been filming a lot of stuff involving guns lately we really aren't gun nuts. The truth is, when you have a very expensive high speed camera and you're looking for cool stuff to capture in slow motion, you're eventually going to gravitate this direction. This one was pretty darn fun. Believe it or not the explosive material used can be purchased and used by any civilian. Tannerite is a material that can only be ignited by a round from a high power rifle. Personally I find it a little surprising that this stuff can actually be purchased given how powerful it is. The concussion from a 1 pounder is pretty strong, even from about 50 yards out.

  5. This week on Slow-Mo Mondays we played with fire. You'll notice in the second half of the clip there is a small explosive in the middle of the screen that goes off, disrupting the flames around it. Admittedly this clip is pretty week sauce compared to some of the other stuff we have lined up for this month but I thought it was worthy enough to include.
We asked our explosives expert to help us blow a cute little teddy bear into a million pieces at 4000 frames per second for next weel's clip. Don’t miss it!
