Now, we are Formatte!

If you’ve ever seen a movie, you’ve seen opening titles of some kind. Opening credits have existed pretty much since the beginning of moving pictures, and they are as varied as the films themselves.
“THE FILM before THE FILM” is a short documentary that traces the evolution of title design through the history of film.
This short film was a research project at the BTK (Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule) that takes a look at pioneers like Saul Bass, Maurice Binder and Kyle Cooper by showing the transitions from early film credits to the inclusion of digital techniques, a resurgence of old-school style, and filmmakers' love of typography in space.

Nathan Millward gives a captivating insight into his motives for riding 35,000 miles from Sydney to Alaska on a 105cc Aussie post bike. If you’ve ever wondered what possesses some people to spend a life travelling the globe on two wheels, you’ll need to look hard to find a better – and more honest – explanation than this.

We all feel helpless faced with the violence that struck us. I have no weapons, nor power. And out of respect, I have no words strong enough. I can only convey a message of hope and humanity through what I do best: films. After the racket has shut up, once the radios are silent and the televisions are turned off, what I see is a wounded crowd waving a thirst for life, through their gestures, through their testimonies. I see fraternity, consideration for the Other, for his beauty, for his difference. Believe is an embrace for all those who are in sorrow, on bended knee. From Paris with Love
