A micro-film project with only specifications being that two characters meet and make an exchange. My first on-camera exercise in the UW Film program. Shot in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle, Washington entirely on iPhone 4s and edited on Final Cut Pro X.
On October 31, 2009, Seattle Police Officer Timothy Q. Brenton was killed in the line of duty. At the funeral, the Seattle Fire Department’s bagpipes and drums band graciously played, inspiring Brenton’s partner, Ryan Gallagher, on a quest to form a band within his own organization. The response and support was overwhelming, and two years later, the Seattle Police Pipes and Drums, now over 50 members strong, plays memorials and events all over the state of Washington, and in other various parts of the country.
Set against the sonic backdrop of their own piping and drumming, this is the story of their inspiration and pride for their role in the community and their reverent respect of their responsibility in the honor of fallen officers.
Filmed in collaboration with University of Washington.
