Lifeboat Media #stigmameltdown

This is a clip from our second phase of work in which we explored a new format for the media, based on a question + answer game. Participants first decide what questions they want to ask. Then they choose randomly from the pile in front of them. We film with two cameras, uninterrupted as the conversation evolves. No scripts. The two people who meet are both living with hiv. This material was also used by Maastricht University in experiments to see whether watching films like these can actually make a difference to people's fear responses. The results point to effective ways of reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with hiv.

The Lifeboat Media #stigmameltdown series is a collection of filmed conversations between people living with Hiv. Men and women of different backgrounds and sexual orientation discuss the issues that are important to them. This series has grown out of our earlier work and focuses more on a media format that is built around conversations, not stories.
