This summer Betty Layward School in Hackney enjoyed Pinksie Art Week which this year worked with the theme of celebrating difference. http://www.pinksie.com. We imagined Pinksie dreaming up the idea to throw a big party to celebrate all the different wonderful characters she met on her travels.
On the day of the workshop each child in Saffron class created their own character then in groups of three animated the moment Pinksie invited them to her party and created a "selfie" of their character for the "red carpet" scene. The inventiveness of the characters, the imaginative ways each group greeted and received their invitations and the lively dialogue work together to create this charming film. We hope you have as much fun watching it as we all had making it.
Queensbridge School in Hackney joined Pinksie this year, http://www.pinksie.com in creating artworks to celebrate difference. Emerald class worked with animators Heather Boucher and Jenny Kok of Stop-Gap London to make a 2d cutout puppet, stop frame animation. Each child created their own character and in small groups the class set about animating the moment Pinksie invited them, by seaweed, to her big party. After creating a selfie for the "red carpet" scene everyone had great fun voicing their character. The result is this charming imaginative film, we hope you have fun watching it, it was a joy to make.
