  1. This is a pilot for a web series I just produced called God Rewards the Fearless. Directed by my main man Phil Cruz, this series has a little of everything. For you conspiracy theory buffs it deals a lot with New World Order takeover and a new American revolution. For everybody else this series has some amazing martial arts action from star and stunt coordinator Willie Laureano. We shot it all in one day on the Canon 7D with three zoom lenses. We had the Tokina 11-16, Canon 24-70 and 70-200. Perfect set for run and gun, and though I love the 5D a lot, I think the 7D has a very organic look to it that I think I actually prefer over the 5D. Enjoy, and if you want more info on the series check out godrewardsthefearless.com

  2. *Official selection of the 2010 Arizona Underground Film Festival.

Storyline: When four college students desecrate sacred land during a camping trip in the remote Arizona desert they quickly find themselves engulfed in grave and supernatural danger.

Bloody Basin served as my short film capstone while attending ASU.

It was originally slated as a four day shoot in the Arizona desert. However, during its third day of shooting the film suffered some major setbacks when we were hit by a severe thunder storm with torrential downpours (extremely bad news if you happen to be filming in a fifty acre dry wash). In fact, it was the largest storm recorded that year in that area. Crazy bad luck considering it rarely rains in Arizona. Especially in the month of February.

We did what we could to preserve the story and finish the piece, but the loss of a day and a half of shooting due to rain meant changing the script drastically in order to finish the film on time. To the crew's credit we finished the film on time and it screened at ASU's capstone screening in the spring 2008.

Unhappy with the forced changes, I returned into the desert a year later and re-shot parts of the film as it was originally scripted.

The version you are about to see reflects those changes and is very close to the film's original shooting script.

I hope you enjoy our film! Please feel free to express your thoughts below. Oh and please feel free to share the film with others. We could use the exposure and feedback. Thanks!

A special thank you to all those who worked on this film. It was a long and at times painful journey, but I could not be more proud of what we created. I am forever grateful for your trust and support.

    Sincerely,

    Dave Surber

  3. A destitute man, living on city streets liberates a device and escapes to a symphony of light and sound.

The idea came about by wanting to play with timelapse as a way of showing different realities. The Maestro obviously sees things differently than most people and by working the timelapse effect into the narrative, it allows us to see the world from his point of view.

The Maestro was shot in Sydney, Australia with a crew of four people on the Canon 5D Mark II using only available light. The visual effects featured were all shot in-camera and later composited in post.
