Working on the terrain simulation for the Into the Trees collaboration with Zoë Keating.
Still using placeholder textures but finally implemented some layered undergrowth to make the ground plane less frustratingly dull. The lighting is a bit subtle so best viewed fullscreen. Runs in realtime on my MacBook Pro laptop.
Also added a directional light source which illuminates the ground plane, trees, and boulders. Not sure what time of day the final piece will use, perhaps even a change from day to night or vice versa.
Next up, going to experiment with ground mist, and if I am feeling bold, I might try tackling shadows.
