  2. Over half the population of the world lives under governments that restrict the entry of foreign religious workers. Although missionaries are not welcome, people with nation building skills, such as English teachers, are welcomed. For approximately 60 nations in the world, being a skilled worker is the major means of gaining entry. For 33 nations, it is the only means of entry. Whether or not you have training in this area, TESOL is a course that will equip you with skills that can open many doors of opportunity in restricted access nations, and among our many multicultural neighbors.

  4. Student Created Outreach Video

Outreach phase of DTS is eight weeks of opening your eyes to the needs of the world and showing them Jesus in response. Every outreach is different, and could look like anything from building a fresh water supply in Indonesia, to playing metal shows in Berlin, to talking about Jesus over smoothies with Thai college students. You'll get to see what it's like to work with long-term missionaries overseas, and come away with compassion and vision of your own. The main purpose of outreach in DTS is evangelism. You will work and serve in a lot of different ways, but at the end of the day the goal of every outreach is to make God known in all the nations of the earth. So as you choose to do a DTS to are joining the world-wide movement to make Jesus to known in every corner of the globe.

  5. “The Surge” is a laser-like strategy that will partner with one Target Nation for 3-5 years at a time to meet mutually agreed upon, God-given goals.

The heart behind The Surge strategy, and the reason for it’s name, is to give a big push to each of our Target Nation partners to meet their God-given goals. The impact of a storm surge is unmistakable and we believe that if all of our staff and students allow God to speak to them how they are to be a part of every Surge with each of our Target Nations, we will be able to help move the God-given goals of the long-term workers forward in ways we have not seen before.

There are two billion people in the world right now learning the English language. It’s the most widely learned and sought after second language in the world. Because so many people want to learn English, most missionaries from North America find themselves teaching in classrooms at some point in their overseas ministry. A large number of ministries around the world use English classes as a tool for evangelism, building relationships in their communities, and as a way to open doors of ministry in restricted access nations. Yet, many of today’s missionaries have never had any formal training as language teachers.

TESOL is a uniquely strategic seminar designed to quickly and effectively train any English speaker as a fully certified English teacher and to release them into ministry. This course emphasizes an interactive classroom using Language for LIFE.
