1. "The Arts Page" on Milwaukee Public Television is a weekly arts program that showcases the arts from around Wisconsin and around the country. With no funding to create an all-local arts show, we partner with 30+ PBS stations across the country to share arts content. We're proud that our local features focus on the vibrant arts community in Southeastern Wisconsin, giving us an opportunity to tell their amazing stories and to participate in the wider arts community in the United States through PBS. Currently in our fourth season, this compilation highlights 3 local arts features including amateur motorcycle photography, an arts competition using PEEPS marshmallow candies, and a musical play about Louis Prima and Keely Smith.

  3. This special episode of The Arts Page explores a powerful new exhibit at the Jewish Museum Milwaukee. “Stitching History from the Holocaust” tells the story of Paul and Hedwig “Hedy” Strnad, a Jewish couple living in Prague in 1939. Paul writes to his cousin Alvin in Milwaukee to get affidavits to emigrate from Czechoslovakia to the United States, and hopes that his wife’s dress designs will be the key to getting them passage to the US. Sadly, Paul and Hedy both perish in the Holocaust. The exhibit is a tribute to their lives, creating their legacy via fashion with the help of the Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Costume Department, and exploring the deeper questions of loss and preservation.
