Medium: HD video of straight lines projected onto suspended privet branches and grass.

Dimension:20'x35'xvarious' deep (Interior installations) and Exterior site

The ceiling installation of suspended privet branches which catch projected moving straight lines at South Fork Natural History Museum Barn Studio. Where the line intersects a branch a point is formed. The result is moving points of light which are coplanar. Wall One is in the background. One half of the SoFo studio was dedicated to installations, and the other half to explorations of light and sound through public workshops.

The exterior installation is projection onto groomed grass as well as upside down privet branch "anti-privacy" structures built by myself and the general public during workshop sessions.

The Expansive Field Project included large scale projection installations, interactive sound/light performances, invited guest artist-performers, workshops, and educational outreach. Throughout the residency, I held several interactive workshops where the public was invited to manipulate materials within projections of light, as well as transforming sound into light projections onto various materials.

Three performers were invited to publicly interact with my workshop installations: Composer-vocalist Cecilie Hafstad Richards (20 April 2013 Opening Event), Visual/Movement artist Jaanika Peerna, and Philosopher-composer-author David Rothenberg (25 May 2013 Closing Event).

Several school groups made studio visits, including a group of 8,9,10th grade geometry students who brought their own projects to share alongside my studio work with a class of 3rd graders. To satisfy my interest in off-site educational outreach for this residency, I worked with the 7th class at the Ross School to develop individual projection installations which resulted in a show in their school gallery.
