We've finally done it: put together our work from this past summer and turned it into a single complete piece.
The FullCircle Project follows four professional snow athletes as they work to aid in the rebuilding efforts of central Chile, almost six months after the devastating earthquake and tsunami of February 2010. The project (more of a way of thinking) was conceived by Matt Philippi and friends as a way for athletes to become more involved in the countries and communities they normally just ski in.
"La Ola" is the final installment of The FullCircle's trip to Chile that follows them as they continue to ski in the backcountry around Nevados de Chillan and revisit the coast. The Team also pays a visit to Perales, the old coastal town of our guide Chico where a house he built once stood close to the beach. All that is left is the stone floor, slowly being covered by the sands of the beach pushed inland by the force of the tsunami.
Still photos of the aftermath of the Tsunami were taken by our friend Felipe Lorca Cornejo.
One of the "Tests" we all encounter at one point in life is an instance where your world as you perceive it comes crumbling down. Whether this is literal, in case of tens of thousands of Chileans, or figurative, with the athlete facing potential career ending injury. They are both devastating, they are both very real, and although the two are hardly comparable what they share is the very human trait: perseverance. It's a complicated, yet seemingly simple ultimatum; Do you hang up your skis, or do you rebuild?
Follow The FullCircle Team as they have their eyes opened from fellow volunteer Tommy, head to the mountains, and begin their own rebuilding process.
Dan Marion joined The FullCircle Project last week down here in Nevados de Chillan and wanted to put together a small edit about daily life with the 6 other crew members. He put this together with his Sony "Bloggie". Glad to have his antics and positivity on the trip. Stay Tuned for Episode Two of The FullCircle Project dropping soon.
