In this video I show 2 alternatives (Grolsch straplock & flat metal ring/washer) after showing an official branded one, both alternatives are CHEAPER and in my opinion MORE EFFECTIVE. Apologies for my sometimes lacking english.
The only reason I can think of to use expensive straplocks would be to use one strap with multiple guitar, which on itself seems unpractical to me because you would have to change the length of the strap everytime. If you're like me and have a strap for every guitar which will never have to come of, DON'T BUY EXPENSIVE STRAPLOCKS.
Just a basic tune that I decided to name. I came up with this last summer in Thailand, using a cheap but not bad acoustic guitar I bought on Atsadang-Road which is a few blocks behind the Royal Palace. Recorded this using Garageband and my happily abused parts-o-caster. I gave the strat some overdrive, makes it feel warm and scratchy in a positive vibe
A personal favorite of mine that I discovered on Youtube. Andrew Winton is an Australian-based indie musician living in Perth, his technique on fingerstyle guitar is really skilled and has a very tropical though relaxing sound to it.
I haven't figured out all the little details just yet (there's no tab as far as I know), nor have I tried seriously singing with it. In this video I basically go through through the main chords that make the song.
Simplified cover of José González's "Killing for Love". Such a wonderfull tune and he's a god for being able to play it (very complex rhythm, there's some nice video's on Pitchfork) and sing at the same time.
I try to just follow the base-notes as much as possible and I play in a much higher tonal-hight which was easier to match my voice with at the moment.
