Join us for this 30-minute worship experience for the Sunday before Christmas. DisciplesNet pastor Richard Propes delivers a short message, and our Advent candle is lit by Pastor Rahul Nirmal, all the way from India. Pastor Deb Phelps leads communion. Our worship has some inspiring, uplifting, and touching music for the season by Dean Phelps, Twana Harris, and instrumental piano by Beverly Heid. And, at the last minute, a special guest Skyped in from Italy to join us in reading scripture and offer the communion prayer.
Interesting Fact about this video: DisciplesNet worker and Texas Christian University student Tom Calvert-Rosenberger is our special guest, who at the time he made this video was in a hotel, frustrated with delays in flying back to the United States from Italy...snowfall and other events had kept him from joining his family. His prayer in spite all this is especially meaningful.
In this first of two worships straddling the Week of Compassion, Richard Propes delivers a short poignant message about his own search for compassion after experiencing one tragedy after another in life. A special gift is the Pastoral Prayer from Rahul Nirmal in India.
Music for this video comes from the combination of Phoebe Spier and Dean Phelps, singing "Surely the Presence," "You are My All in All," and "Jesus Loves Me, Alleluia." Donations to Week of Compassion can be made through DisciplesNet, or directly at the website for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) disciples.org. Thanks for joining us!
This is the first online worship experience for DisciplesNet Church, a new grassroots, online church. This is pretty rough video, just a small worship among our pastors and volunteers, but we wanted to share it with you. One of our Associate Pastors, Richard Propes, is preaching.
As we grow, our videos will have a more professional look to them.
We would love to have you be part of our new webchurch.
Our vision calls us to be a living network that crosses barriers and boundaries to connect the world with the Good News of God’s redeeming love.
We want to be here particularly for those who cannot attend a physical church.....God has helped us hear of your needs, and if you would like to be a part of our new community of faith, please join us. Our website is disciplesnet.org.
An interesting fact about this video: In this video Richard gives some engaging autobiographical information about being born with spina bifida, and a number of other setbacks in his life, but of God's sustaining power, often coming through other people of God, to see him through.
Our Palm Sunday worship begins a busy week at DisciplesNet, with plans to post video worships for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and then Easter.
Richard Propes is our preacher for Palm Sunday, delivering the inspiring and personal message, "Surrender," based on the season of Lent, Romans 8:6-11, and his unique lens of disability.
Included on this video are the popular, "Jesus, Messiah," which opens the worship time, and traditional hymns, "All Glory, Laud, and Honor," and "Let Us Break Bread Together."
We hope you will be blessed by today's worship, will tell your friends and family who might benefit from attending...then will come back to DisciplesNet Church again this week as we recognize this Holy Week and the passion of Christ on the way to the cross.
