  4. The Life Season 5, Episode 1

If you could write the 28th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, what would it be?

BFS recently partnered with Brooklyn Public Library on the 28th Amendment Project, inviting Brooklynites to help draft the 28th amendment to the Constitution. On a virtual townhall for BFS 7th--12th graders as well as students from neighboring schools, attendees were given a voice to the most important issues facing our communities today. Ideas put forward during this town hall were sent to Framers, who will draft our Constitution’s next amendment. While the result will not be a legal document, the amendment will reflect the aspirations and will of the people.

  5. Creativity, diligence, passion. Inspiration, talent, originality. Those are some of the words and phrases that introduce the 2020 edition of Word Flirt, the Upper School student literary magazine. In this episode of The Life, the words on the page come alive as a group of student writers read from their poetry and essays. The 21 works written by 18 contributors to Word Flirt may be viewed on the Upper School resource website. The Editorial Board for this year's publication is composed of Claire B, Loane B, Jack D, Avery L, Chelsea P, Sarah Y, and Evelyn Y, all members of the Class of 2021.
Word Flirt's faculty advisor is Rachel Mazor. Rachel and the students wish to give special thanks to Upper School English teachers Fadwa Ali Abbas, Liz Heck, and Sarah Levy and to Andy Cohen and Paul Romano for facilitating the Word Flirt website.
