Today’s technology is unbelievable! We can connect with people instantly. The internet provides all the information we need. It’s fast.
So, when I need advice or help, I text my friends, I post on Facebook or Instagram. I get immediate counsel and encouragement.
God has advice to give, too. But his advice doesn’t come in a quick text message.
God’s admonition and counsel come in quiet times of solitude. This takes time. Who has such time?
Join me today as we look at the choice to choose “fast” counsel and encouragement or the “best” counsel and encouragement.
Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
Philippians 4:6,7 (CEB) “Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions…Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.”
Matthew 6:31-32 (MSG) “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you…to do his best for you?... Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”
Isaiah 41:10 (AMPC): “Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.”
Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC) …”for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down,(relax My hold on you)…Assuredly not!
I love to do lists. I make lists of things I have to buy at the grocery store. I make lists of things I need to do around the house... and more!
I love this! There is this great sense of accomplishment when we finish our to do list and we can delete it or rip it up.
I think God likes “to do” lists.
To do lists are a good thing…
I was recently making a list while studying Psalm 37. Let me back up…
Psalm 37 begins talking about the unrighteousness in the world. And today we are surrounded by evil, corruptness…What are we to do when we see all this unrighteousness? What should be our response?
How do we live with all the unrighteousness around us? War, mass shootings, human trafficking, corrupt governments, heresies in the church… These have all become a part of our daily lives.
What can we do? God tells us 3 ways to deal with unrighteousness.
Join me in my journey of destroying my “To Do” lists to listen to the voice of God.
Psalm 37:1-3 (AMPC) “FRET NOT yourself because of evil doers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in right standing with God)… TRUST (lean on, rely on and be confident) in the Lord…and DO GOOD.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”
Sometimes we look at Baby Jesus in the same way we look at Christmas wrapping paper…But the real gift goes deeper than the wrapping. So, what is the gift that goes deeper than a baby in a manger?
Join me as we look at Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Balance. Do you have a good balance between activity and rest in your life?
Activity for the Kingdom is a good thing…But you can have too much of a good thing.
Rest is equally important.
Come with me to the little town of Dorset, Minnesota and let me share what this town taught me about balance.
Proverbs 11:1 (ESV) “A false balance in an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.”
Daniel 5:27 “You have been weighed in the balances and are found wanting.”
Psalm 62:1 (WEB) “My soul finds rest in God alone.”
Do you cry easily? I do. I cry at movies. I cry at sad stories on the news. I cry when a friend is hurting. I cry.
Do you know God wants us to cry? Do you know our emotional tears actually release healing medicine to our bodies?
God cares about our tears…He collects our tears and hangs on to them.
Join me today as we look the value our tears have to God.
Psalm56: 8 (TPT)
“You’ve kept track of all my wandering and my weeping. You’ve stored my many tears in your bottle—not one will be lost. For they are all recorded in your book of remembrance.”
Rev.21: 4 (CEV)
“ He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.”
