Dusk Dances began with a single performance in 1993, when dancer/choreographer Sylvie Bouchard used the natural beauty and whimsy of Trinity-Bellwoods Park's ravine for a site-specific dance event. After overwhelming community encouragement and support, Bouchard was convinced to reprise the event two years later. Fast forward fifteen years, and Dusk Dances is still a vital source of cultural engagement in Toronto. Bringing traditional and contemporary dance to public parks throughout the city, the annual festival provides accessible performances on a pay-what-you-can basis, ensuring new and diverse audiences to the dance community.
