Trails & Tales

In an attempt to reconcile her past, Kajal Nisha Patel uses photography to explore the expectations, duty, love and modesty, which colour her everyday life as a British born Indian woman. Sacred moments are observed between parents and children in India, shedding light on her own upbringing in a more liberal and fragmented society.

Protection featured in the Adopting Britain exhibition at Southbank Centre, London, 2015.
The film was also selected for the Slideluck showcase at the FORMAT International Photography Festival 2013, UK.

This is a place for the stories of migrant people. Whether through choice, circumstance or their ancestry, these people are connected to more than one place. Their daily lives blend cultures and conflicts, as they simultaneously live in different worlds. These photofilms are a glimpse into their world, through their eyes, because stories cross the boundaries that people can't.
