Live performance of a soundtrack to accompany an excerpt from Béla Tarr's Damnation. The excerpt (shown here) was slowed to 25% using slowmoVideo (http://slowmovideo.granjow.net). Recorded live on 12th October, 2012.
Installation/performance from Bonfire Night (5th November) 2011, at Twee Off in Norwich. 40 sparklers with contact mics clamped to them were slowly lit before 3 fireworks were set off into a contact mic'd china crash cymbal. The sound of the vibration resulting from the combustion, the wind, feedback and the expansion and contraction of the both the sparklers and the contact mics themselves as they heated and cooled was mixed live, via a compressor (to deal with extra-loud pops) to a guitar amp. The audio in the recording is a mix of the contact mic feeds and a standard air microphone, and has only had minimal, mastering-type processing applied to it.
