Treason began in 1988 when John Seaton, singer with underground thrash act APOCALYPSE, joined the line-up. They went on to tour extensively and were very busy on the circuit at the time, working alongside other British thrash metal acts like Slammer, Xentrix and Onslaught. Treason also supported name acts as diverse as Neurosis, Warrior Soul, Gwar, Motorhead and Bad Brains. They never secured a record deal but built up quite a decent following around the country.
After a 12 year lay-off where he concentrated mainly on writing new material, John re-surfaced in 2004 with a new project called EGO PRIME, featuring musicians from HAWKWIND and STRAY. The band only gigged a couple of times, but did record an album, although he was disappointed with the results. Logistical problems led to the band dissolving within a year or so and then John decided to resurrect the TREASON name. He eventually found, after a long and arduous search, the right men for the job! - STEVE REDDIHOUGH from cult punk rock 'n' roll band THE MACHINES stepped in on bass, and the highly experienced TOBY WYSS on drums.
In 2010 Treason signed with Casket records and then spent six months recording their first official album for them. Entitled 'Lambs to the Slaughter' the album is now available, released on Casket Records in May 2011. During 2010 & 2011, many gigs were undertaken around the UK, and the band headlined such venues as the o2 Academy (Islington), The Forum (Hatfield), Chinnerys (Southend), The Engine Room (Brighton), The Bull & Gate (Kentish Town), The Rigger (Stoke), The Tropic (Ruislip), together with festivals for Sound Awesome, Cosmic Puffin, and Bridgefest to some rave reviews.
In April/May 2010, Treason reached No 1 in the Sound Awesome charts with a demo track called 'Looking at the Sun' which will feature on their next album. At least 150 radio stations around the world have featured Treason songs over the past eighteen months.
Treason are unique in the fact their music is not based on one style of genre, a mix of heavy, progressive, metal, stoner and classic rock.
Treason are currently recording their second album, which will be released through Casket records in 2012. Thereafter, the band will be out touring far and wide to promote it. Hope you can find time to check them out. Be prepared for a night of seriously heavy sonic violence!
