Tree Fellers (2004, 24 mins RENT IT HERE http://muvi.es/w5179) tells the story of the 900 Belizean lumberjacks who in 1942 left the tropical rainforests of British Honduras to help Britain fight fascism by felling trees in Scotland. Sam ( 93), Eric (87) and Amos (86) were among those who stayed on after the war to make new lives in a country where, for better or worse, the colour of their skin marked them out. Rare archive footage, long cherished memories and a last reunion are intertwined in this lyrical and moving documentary testament.

An Asylum Pictures Production for Scottish Screen, Scottish Television and Grampian Television.

This channel is home to video content connected with the documentary project 'Tree Fellers Revisited' (RENT THE ORIGINAL FILM AT http://muvi.es/w5179) an action research project in the Screen Media Research Centre at Edinburgh Napier University (supported financially by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland), which is looking at how documentary films are used and perceived by different audiences. It is based on the documentary film 'Tree Fellers', produced by Robin MacPherson and directed by Sana Bilgrami in 2004 for Asylum Pictures, Scottish Screen and Scottish Television. It tells the story of the men of the British Honduras Forestry Unit in Scotland during World War 2. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TreeFellersRevisited
