Nurturing agrobiodiversity is supported by the Andean cosmovision. The love for Mama Kawsay, or the Seed Mother, is encapsulated in local rituals in the Andean highlands. Mama Kawsay raises human beings as well as the Andean deities, souls or spirits, the deceased, and all other members of the Andean biotic community. This video presents a record of accomplishments and achievements of the Nuclei for Andean Cultural Affirmation in walking with the communities to regenerate the rituals of the Andean-Amazonian regions of the Peruvian highlands. Mama Kawsay Rune Sapichiq is the Seed Mother that enlivens all beings. The in situ conservation project of native crops and wildlife provides evidence that in the Andes and the Amazonian highlands of Peru, the region's rich biodiversity is nurtured through local rituals. The Nuclei of Andean Cultural Affirmation (NACAs) participated in this project by collecting evidence of these nurturing rituals in the communities of Puno, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, and San Martin, which are shown in this video produced by Julie Valladolid Cavero for Proyecto Andino de Tecnologias Campesinas (PRATEC) during 2006.
