Currently a research associate at the University of Washington in Seattle, James McLurkin was recognized in 2003 by Time Magazine as one of five leading robotics engineers, and by Black Enterprise magazine that same year as a Best and Brightest Under 40. When he was in 7th grade, he knew he wanted to go to MIT, where he later earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and masters and Ph.D. degrees in computer science.
