in 1978 i experiemented with an 45rpm record of Paul McCartney and the Wings single "JET" it was accumulated either from my older brother or mother but at the end of 45rpm record the was crack comin from the center whole in but not cracking the whole record,..and when the needle of my Walt Disney Record player of Pluto fetchin' a bone,..in which the bone was the turntable arm,,..the crack would cause a skip on the record inwhich was a perfect revolution and musically at the time to myself was hypnotic in itself cause i remember layin' there for several hours SKIPPING and singing the words to jet in my head,..well without my brothers permission whom was ten years older than me,.on several occasions id raid LP's, and i knew which one's he had grown out of but still had sittin in his collection such as BT EXPRESS and SWEET,..and the BEATLES WHITE ALBUM well i'd place piece's of tape on paticular groves of these albums, and continue to rock out solo with my mr. microphone like i was gods gift to music,..i had seen The Jackson 5 just 2 years prior and was well aware a kid could be popular,..and i must admit i tried breaking atleast 20 other 45rpm records we had around the house looking for that same effect i had gotten from the "JET" Wings 45rpm just days before....now as far as hip hop in my life, i heard "Rapper's Delight" at Rollertowne the following year and it was LOVE at FIRST BITE,...i just couldn't get over the KEYOPECTATE remark and the "food just taste like wood" and i don't get a copy of this LP until 1980-81 and was stoked on the B SIDE bein BLANK,..and also was lucky enough that stayed up late one night,...oh i was worst than Ricky in Silver Spoons i had my own televeision and phone line in my room at the age of 8,..but sometime after watching Benny Hill which began around 12:30 am on channel 26 KMPH,..Soul Train would come on,..and i don't know if it was a re run or what but SUGARHILL GANG did APACHE and i recorded this with my little hand held tape recorder,..or i should say my brothers commodre 64 tape deck,...and this is when i started concentrating makin loops on cassette from taping the turntable i had catching skips from records i had stategically placed pieces of notebook tape,...hip hop was me but yet i don't know what hip hop is at this time,...now skip up a year and a half,..and FLASHDANCE the movie hit the theatre's now in the movie there are a couple of sceenes where CRAZY LEGS does some street magic and moon walks etc,...well i had this on VHS,..and a friend and i studied it like a TIBETIAN MONK,..now un unanouced to me i wasn't the only one,...when i returned from a christmas vaccation i remember like 5 other boys at recess besides my self completly following routine like we'd been doin this forever and the next day we returned to school with strips of card board we'd folded up hidden in out backpacks, and were stopped by teachers as this wasn't safe play time,..and then next day spoke with Principal to see if it was okay that we practice this dance or dancing moves and do this in the cafeteria during luch recess this bein out of the way of other students and well the linolium was ideal, this escalated with me bringing a ghetto blaster i bought at the flea market by some knock off brand named LASONIC and well it had some of the ringing bells and things you had seen in pics like of Malcolm Mclarens album,..which i never got to hear except once in a blue moon on this show called VTV which was channel 53 pbs broad cast and this would play late nite,..and youd get the hits like
VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO star by Buggles,.and Turning Japaneese, and the Waitress's and every once in a while Buffallo Gals,...so i was aware that HIPHOP again existed buy now becoming a BreakDancer and Turntable Experiementiest and bein' overwhelmed my time became obsessed in obtaining LP's which were break dance wurthy in 83 this was topped with Herbie's "rock it" along with "Blue Monday" by New Order whom i had no clue was goin to turn me NEW WAVE in about a year from now,..but rockin' Blue Monday for the break beat
