USF Documentary students learn the importance of telling stories that can comment on, reflect upon, and can help shape politics, art, and culture. Students come to realize that they have a voice in society and that film is an incredible way for their voice to be heard.

  3. USF students talk about their experinence in MS - 322 Media Production III: Advanced Production: 16mm. In this course students shoot 16mm motion picture film with a Bolex camera. Students also shoot some super 8 film. This is an excellent class for aspiring cinematographers. Working with film forces students to better come to terms with many cinematography concepts. This course also appeals to those with an experimental bent. Students learn to hand process film and learn a bit about the history of older film formats.

  4. USF Students talk about their experience in MS 331: Advanced Narrative Fiction Film Production. In the Advanced Narrative class students make a substantial film, about 10 minutes long. Students spend more time honing screenplays and more time in the pre-production process than in introductory classes. Students are also more active in helping fellow classmates make their films. Students also focus on more advanced techniques in terms of cinematography, sound recording and editing.

  5. USF students talk about their experinence in MS - 340 Media Production III: Experimental Cinema. The experimental film class is a combo of film history and film production. Students see an incredible variety of films to help expand their knowledge of film history and broaden their definition of what is cinema. Students then make a lot of short films, utilizing the various techniques that they’ve learned about. Students hand draw and manipulate film, make collage films, and a lot of students also incorporate these ideas into music videos.
