    Recent guest on the radio show; singer songwriter Jessie Lee Miller from Austim played local eatery with (local guitarist producer) Sean Mencher who just so happened to produce her Debut CD "Now You're Gonna to be Loved" (a tune written by Sean) .
    Rockabilly , Swing, Texas Swing, torch songs, here's pictures strung together of her and the Sean Mencher Combo backing her up Playing @ Chicky's.
    The tune is the title track off her Debut album.
    She's a brilliant talent, reminicent of Patsy Cline (one of her heros) Get a chance to see her take it !.

    BTW(ADDED SEPT18TH'06) ; Sean Mencher JUST finalized his latest self titled release and it's out on a great label out of FINLAND= GOOFIN' RECORDS( check out their amazing catalog see below) , Here's a link to his recording;
    Sean cuts it up on the guitar and just returned from Spain with a few copies and I have heard some of the rough mixes, & seen Sean a number of times he's a gifted guitarist , singer, writer, a born performer/entertainer, producer & an all around cool cat. We are very lucky to have him here in Portland, Maine.

    (Note; the transfers leave a bit to be desired on the transitions.) .

  2. (September 8th, 2006 )
    Two time national fingerstyle guitar championship (Wiinfield, Kansas) winner Don Ross played on the show today here's a bit of a tune. Here Tapping, picking, fretting, with the incidental harmonics, never missing a note . There have been hundreds of guitar players on the show but Don most likely has THE most physicallity to his playing of any of them he wrestles the instrument to bend a note here and there, his command of the instrument is Amazing . Link to his latest album on Candy Rat Records; snipurl.com/Don_Ross_CandyRat1
    He's @ DonRossonline.com , a very talented (& self taught) player , he is also in THE MEN of STEEL with Dan Crary, Beppe Gambetta, & Tony MacManus info @;
    and many other projects .

  3. The Great songwriter Pierce Pettis piercepettis.com/index.php
    stopped in of the 14 September enroute to a show in the state. He did a couple of his tunes and one of his favorites of Woody Guthrie. We mentioned the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival
    ( woodyguthrie.com/ ) in Okema Oklahoma as certainly a destination for any Woody fan.
    I have been a fan for a long time of Pierce Pettis since seeing him up here close to 16 years ago, he's written for some major artists in country, was part of the Nashville scene & now lives in Mentone, Alabama, Great great artist and performer, catch him if you can.

    He's usually not doing this @ 9 in the morning but he did three songs and one instrumental.

  4. Jeff Rojo is a great guitarist he hails from Mexico City but now lives here in Maine and knowing how good he is I had the opportunity to meet his guitar teacher of four years in his former home of Mexico City classical guitarist Antonio Lopez AntonioLopezmx.com
    who, is from Mexico City came to Maine to perform a concert of guitar music on both a six string nylon stringed guitar and a rare Brahms eight string guitar (also nylon).
    What a treat to hear Antonio's playing.

    Here is a portion of his playing a piece the title which is unusual " la bora chita"
    (The little drunken Woman)
    which as he said does not really fit the tune until you get the story of the tune.

    The Sound is sound board out and is posted with the permission of the artist. who has several musical projects going besides concerts and teaching. He is a part of a guitar trio who perform popular music of Mexico and other regions of South American culture they perform mostly in South & Central Americas.
