This project was one of my most challenging briefs to date, but the most rewarding. The main concept evolved numerous times throughout the planning stages of the piece, I believe this to be because of the subject matter I chose to base the piece on, I wanted it to be perfect and I wouldn’t have been happy with myself If It didn’t truthfully reflect my opinion. Most of the time was dedicated to testing all the elements which would be present on the final film, this was because the film would contain very minimal elements so in order to make them effective they would have to be tried and tested using many different techniques. I felt a very strong connection with this piece and I think it reflects in some of the shots throughout. I wanted to make every shot as abnormal and interesting as possible. For instance in the end of the swinging light sequence (which wasn’t used in the end) I wanted the light to be switched off in a dramatic fashion to give the ending more impact, so I decided to shoot the bulb with an air gun to create spark and glass effects. I found this piece most rewarding I the sense that I learned many different techniques with lighting and how important lighting is for such a minimalistic piece. If I were to recreate this piece I would create the audio track myself with maybe a subtle narration to aid towards the underlining narrative.
