If you could build your perfect home, what would put in it? How many rooms would it have? How big would you make it?
‘My New Home’ explores the idea of the home, a place we build for ourselves with the things we love. But how are those things made? What resources are used and abused to create our houses? And is it right in today’s world to have our throw-away culture?
These are all questions I tried to raise in this short film.
A person begins creating their perfect home, adding the stuff of dreams… star-filled night rooms, bath tubs the size of lakes, their own forest… But their building seems to keep growing, and as it grows they fill it with more and more. Eventually there is nothing left in the outside world, as this person has greedily taken their share of everything around them..
2 months in the making, this was my first ever animation and a massive learning curve. All the late nights, the frustration, the doubts… were all worth it.
Directed, produced and animated by Daisy Bryant.
Original Score by Mohsin Hanid.
