“Where we’ve gotten mixed up is that we believe actions follow belief. But experience creates belief.” - The Reverend Cecil Williams

As designers, we often take our skills and methods for granted. They’re just those things we do to get the job done. But to organizations that haven’t been exposed to what we do, the things that to us might seem like business as usual can be transformational for them. The trouble is, not enough designers are working with the organizations that need designers the most.

Using the recent collaboration between Adaptive Path.org and GLIDE as a case study, this talk will explore how designers and non-profits can benefit from working outside their comfort zones. Nick and Ken will share the impact that co-creating a new service, from scratch, in 14 weeks, has had on their teams at both Adaptive Path and GLIDE, as well as some lessons for designers and organizations alike.
