  1. Lane Assist technology helps prevent a driver from straying from the correct lane and is becoming an integral part in most modern vehicles.

    To help validate your lane assist or lane departure warning system, the VBOX ADAS package uses RTK correctional messages, a dual-constellation receiver, and a high-accuracy inertial device, to provide you with consistent centimetre-level accuracy.

    Once you have created a lane reference file, using either our survey pole or our specially designed trolley for curved markings, your VBOX can accurately calculate the distance between the vehicle and the lane edge.

    Dedicated plugins in our data analysis software, VBOX Test Suite, take the hassle out of testing to the UN R79 protocol.

    A dual camera, VBOX Video HD2 can also be connected to provide video with live data overlays to give you a clear visual reference of parameters such as distance, velocity and driver alerts during the test.

    All data is saved and can also be analysed in further detail post-test using our Test Suite software.

  2. RACELOGIC have recently completed an installation of the VBOX Indoor Positioning System (VIPS) at the world leading test house, AstaZero. Following the recent opening of the AstaZero DryZone, Peter Janevik, CEO of AstaZero, explains why they needed an indoor positioning system and the benefits of selecting VIPS.

    The AstaZero Dry Zone is the world’s longest indoor test track, measuring 700m long by 40m wide and is used by automotive manufacturers for year-round, repeatable testing. However, with the roof blocking satellite signals, they required an indoor positioning system to allow for established testing technologies and accuracy levels achieved outdoors to also be delivered indoors.

    VIPS delivers centime-level accuracy across the whole of the test hall with up to five target vehicles in operation simultaneously at speeds of up to 270km/h. VIPS is also fully compatible with most leading test systems including driving robots.

  4. Autonomous emergency braking, or AEB, systems are used to protect drivers and passengers inside a vehicle as well as vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists.

    All vehicle manufacturers must validate that their safety systems meet the guidelines set up by certification agencies and consumer test organisations like NHTSA and Euro NCAP.

  5. The VBOX NTRIP Modem allows you to receive RTK correction data via Internet, without having to operate your own RTK base station.

    The VBOX NTRIP Modem enables the roving VBOX unit, or any other RTK-enabled device, to send its position to the stations within the network – just as it would to a single VBOX Base Station. The NTRIP service provider will then calculate the appropriate corrections for the VBOX’s location based on the data from nearby reference stations. This correction information is then returned to the VBOX in the same RTCM format as is used for a single fixed base station.

    One of the main advantages of NTRIP is that you can achieve centimetre accuracy without having to purchase and operate your own RTK base station.

    By using the internet, you also overcome the transmission limitations posed by radios. Radio signals can be blocked by hills, buildings, trees, etc., and they have a limited distance they can travel.

    Correction messages received via the RTK network can be an advantage if testing is conducted tens of kilometres away from the base station, over large changes in elevation or where topographical obstacles could get in the way.
