What is my Chicago story? It is a tough answer to sum up in a minute long video, but the toughest videos to make tend to have the best final product. With this in mind I set out to create a short summary of my transition from the small town of Taylorville, Illinois to the busy streets of Chicago. To tell this short story I knew I wanted to incorporate both an interview of myself, that way the viewer could see the narrator. As well as plenty of “B roll” footage to help visualize what I am saying. This was a tough task with less than two days to film and edit this project together. Also because I was in Taylorville at the time of making this, equipment was of low quantity. Regardless I still picked up a camera, tripod, a few lights, and some friends and set out to capture my Chicago story. After gathering the footage I edited it all together using Adobe Premiere and After Effects for my color correction. The editing was just as challenging as shooting the footage, because I had to get the narrative cut down to sixty seconds and make sure it stayed on track with the subject.
