You may have seen St Michael’s Anglican Church on the corner of Albion and Flinders St, Surry Hills – an old church with 163 years of history. Over the past few years, we've experienced a rejuvenation – there are new people coming along, kids being born and people exploring Jesus for the first time.
To reflect this renewal, we have decided to change our name to Vine Church. This new name conveys the life, love and freedom that we find in Jesus. It also reflects that we are all connected to each other as a genuine community (John 15:5).
In August this year, the newest and oldest churches in Surry Hills came together under the leadership of Toby Neal for the purpose of helping people in our city understand who Jesus is and what life is all about.
In celebrating the coming together of Vine Church and St Michael's we've interviewed a bunch of people from both churches to hear their stories and what they love about their church.
Vine Church is all about Jesus. We are a group of people who seek God, love others and serve the city. We don't expect everyone to be Christian, in fact we love the fact that many are coming to check out Jesus for the first time.
